TWO WINS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE: Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell

RICHARD Kilty finished fourth in a blanket finish in last night’s 100 metres at the IAAF World Challenge in Ostrava.

Running in the Golden Spike meeting in the Czech Republic, he was placed in race one of the sprint.

The 23-year-old, from Stockton, clocked 10.31 seconds in a race won in 10.28 by Britain’s Harry Aikines-Aryeetey.

Kilty, who represented GB at the European Team Championship in Gateshead at the weekend, was given the same time as runner-up, America’s Calesio Newman, and third-placed Brit Mark Lewis-Francis.

Race two was won by Asafa Powell (10.06) with young Briton Adam Gemili fourth in 10.19. Dwain Chambers was down in seventh in 10.65.

Powell had already won the race once – he sprinted home in 9.97 seconds only to realise Kemar Hyman of the Cayman Islands had been disqualified for a false start.

But he repeated his trick, just beating Kim Collins (10.08).

Aussie great Sally Pearson made a victorious return to international action, clocking 12.67 to win the women’s 100m hurdles.
