1.) What has been your career highlight so far?

My career highlight has been the 1st time I broke the world record in Athens in 2005 because my entire life changed.

2.) Who were your heroes growing up?

My parents. They have inspired me to be the best I can be no matter what I do, they stand by and support me always. They are my heroes.

3.) What advice do you have for an aspiring Olympian?

It’s not an easy road… but once you stay focused, work hard and stick to the plan you have in place with your coach, you can achieve your dreams.

4.) Describe a time you had to persevere through a difficult situation.

I think for me that would have been not doing as well as I should have or was expected of me at the Athens Olympics in 2004. I stayed the course and focused on my training and goals and came back and broke the world record in the same country the next year.

5.) What is something about being a sprinter that a casual fan may not know about?

It’s the only event in track and field that you’re constantly pushing yourself to the limit… that’s why we get injured the most.

6.) What was your favorite subject in school and why?

Arts because I love to draw and it allowed me to express myself.

7.) What do you do in your free time?

I love working on my cars, taking them apart, making them faster. Racing them.
