National Trials: Powell, Blake, Carter Drawn Together In Hot Semi-Final

Asafa Powell, Yohan Blake and Nesta Carter have been drawn together in a stacked Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA)/Supreme Ventures National Senior Championships 100m semi-final.

Powell was impressive in leading the recently returned Blake to the line in their heat yesterday, with the five-time national champion posting the fastest time in qualifying, 9.98, with Blake stopping the clock at 10.24 in his second 100m in a year.

The men’s 100m semi-final gets underway at 7:10 p.m. tonight inside the National Stadium with Blake drawn in lane six, with Powell beside him in lane five and Carter drawing lane three.

Carter was also successful in his heat, crossing the line in first place with a time of 10.12 seconds.

Also drawn in this semi-final are Commonwealth Games finalist Jason Livermore, veteran Michael Frater, fast rising Kemarley Brown and Andrew Fisher as well as Kimmari Roach.

The second semi-final is highlighted by Kemar Bailey-Cole and defending champion Nickel Ashmeade.

The top three athletes from each semi along with the athletes with the next two fastest times will advance to the final set for 9:15 p.m. tonight.
